Second General Meeting of the Advisory Board Strengthens Strategic Alignment of the Roadmap

On 15 May 2025, the 2nd General Meeting of the RDIP Advisory Board was held at the Tivoli Oriente Hotel in Lisbon. The initiative, promoted by APIP in partnership with EY and co-funded by the PRR, brought together the members of the Strategic and Scientific Committees responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Roadmap.

The meeting opened with a status update on the project, highlighting the completion of the sectoral diagnosis phase and the advancement of decarbonisation trajectories and scenarios modelling. Discussions focused on strategic assumptions derived from European and national trends pointing toward a carbon-neutral and circular industry by 2050.

The EY technical team presented preliminary decarbonisation scenarios, centred on strategic pillars and sectoral measures, including energy efficiency, electrification of processes, renewable-energy use, carbon capture and utilisation (CCUS) and plastics circularity.

The results of previous Strategy Sessions were also reviewed, with discussion focused on cost-benefit assessments, technological innovation and investment challenges essential for successful implementation.

The RDIP Advisory Board, composed of recognised experts from academia, industry and public institutions, plays a key role in ensuring the project’s technical, scientific and strategic consistency, through an integrated and collaborative approach. This second General Meeting marked a milestone in consolidating the Roadmap’s strategic alignment, reaffirming the plastics industry’s joint commitment to innovation, sustainability and carbon neutrality, consistent with the PNEC 2030 and RNC 2050 objectives.
