Strategic and Scientific Committees Review Progress and Define Next Steps for the Roadmap

On 17 and 18 April 2024, the interim meeting of the Strategic and Scientific Committees of the RDIP Advisory Board was held. Promoted by APIP in partnership with EY, the meeting focused on reviewing the project’s status, including the preliminary sectoral characterisation, literature review of national and international references, and identification of barriers to decarbonisation in the plastics industry.

Discussions also addressed the emissions model, future scenarios and trends affecting the climate transition, and the strategic levers that will help accelerate the decarbonisation process by 2050.

The RDIP Advisory Board is organised into two complementary committees:

  • The Strategic Committee, which provides policy and strategic guidance, supporting the definition of key measures and sectoral priorities;
  • The Scientific Committee, which ensures methodological rigour and technical coherence, identifying emerging technologies and international best practices.

Both committees include renowned national and international experts from academia, industry, and public and private institutions. The meeting also featured an open roundtable where members shared insights and recommendations based on the technical team’s preliminary findings. This session represented a key milestone for reflection and alignment in the construction of the Roadmap, strengthening the collaborative and multidisciplinary role of the Advisory Board and consolidating the sector’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and climate transition.
